Trying out the Spotlight-like ”Command Center” in #WordPress (in Gutenberg plugin v15.6.
Nothing to see here. Move along. It's too early.
Keep using Turbo Admin!
Also: Why does WordPress have to name things differently to every other project? No one has a "Command Center”!

Wow. #Wordpress is SLOW on an emulated ARM processor on a Zen 3 Ryzen! Multiple seconds per page load. All of my other sites have felt reasonably snappy.
Trying to work out whether it's the emulation or whether it's just too bloated to allow me to move to a #RaspberryPi for my hosting.

Does #WordPress community have trouble reaching younger users? On this today's livestream we'll be talking with Olivia Bisset about getting young people involved in WordPress and Computer Science. Olivia is a young entrepreneur who has been organizing hackathons since her early teens.
Our special co-host is @michelebutcherjones, who has also been involved in bringing more people into the WordPress project.

WordPress folks:
I'm playing around with Twenty Twenty-Three (FSE) on a personal site. It's set as a blog and so the home page is a list of posts.
But I can't get the home page to show more than 10 posts per page, no matter what I change.
I've set Settings > Reading
I've set the query loop block to 12 in every template in the editor that has it. It still only shows 10 posts.
Any ideas?

Whats the best way to generate epub and other formats from #WordPress posts? Posts are in a custom post type & have a lot of code in them.
Asking for a friend -- me -- who would like to publish a course and have it availble on their site and as an eBook on Gumroad or whatever.

I recently purchased PostX by these folks https://www.wpxpo.com and noticed that installing the pro plugin does not allow me to use pro features until the license is activated. Isn't that against GPL or am I wrong? #wordpress

Thanks to the last #WordPress meetup @wp0711 regarding #a11y from @bovelett I just challenged one of my websites @epiphyt and easily found some issues. It was a surprise that my contrast function in SCSS was garbage. 😅 It’s now fixed and so the contrast errors are. 🙂 Blog post regarding this SCSS function is in the making … 📝

Currently getting completely lost in #wordpress / #composer hell:
building a local composer-based plugin that requires base classes from a local path-based package.
Plugin: all ok.
Local package requires remote package: ok.
Local package tries to use required package: class not found but it's really physically there in /vendor 😬.

I wonder if we, as a community, can keep the proposed #WordPress Interactivity API from going the way of #WooCommerce's cart fragments.
Which is to say that cart fragments are totally fine (and kind of fun) on a modest Woo site. But as soon as you start getting real traffic, that little auto updating shopping cart is one of the very first things that needs to go. 🚮

The #WordPress #Gutenberg block editor has some annoying #Firefox scroll bar issues for years, including vertical (urgh) scrollbars.
This CSS snippet mitigates it for me. I wished I've fixed it before.
/*** Firefox vs Gutenberg sidebar scrollbar fix ***/
.interface-interface-skeleton__content,
.interface-interface-skeleton__sidebar,
.components-popover__content
{
scrollbar-gutter: stable;
scrollbar-width: thin;
}

Is there an image format conversion plugin for #WordPress that can act like an invisible mu-plugin?
(I.e. converts JPEG and PNG images into WebP on upload.)
I'd love to have something that simply hooks into wp_handle_upload, uses config constants and does not notify anyone of its existence.
Not that I can't whip one up myself, but this just sounds too simple for anyone else not having done this.

“Part of the magic of #WordPress and its success is that the open nature and #decentralized user experience they offer allows the individuals and organizations using it to embrace their first purposes instead of backward engineering from a centralized monopoly and a bagful of money.
And a key benefit of distributed systems is that they improve over time. When you see something that can be made better, make it better.”
