WooSesh 2023: Don’t Miss This WooCommerce Event
If you built your ecommerce store with WooCommerce, mark your calendars for Oct. 10-12 for a conference you won’t want to miss.
WooSesh returns, and the lineup looks great. Mindsize is proud to sponsor this virtual conference focusing on all things WooCommerce. Keep reading to learn how to join, why we think it’s the best WooCommerce event of the year, and our picks for must-see sessions. Also, check out our special offers for WooSesh attendees.
What is WooSesh?
WooSesh is a live virtual conference brought to you by the team behind WPSessions, a leader in WordPress training.
Conference attendees will hear from 31 speakers during 23 sessions.
The 2023 speaker lineup includes experts in development, marketing, and business.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. CST Oct. 10-12. Every session will be recorded and made available on demand on WPSessions.
Brian Richards, event producer at WPSessions, said he’s honored to help organize WooSesh.
“It is no small privilege to organize WooSesh for the benefit of the entire WooCommerce community – myself included. In fact, I selfishly look forward to producing this event year after year because I get to learn from each of our incredible speakers personally. I can’t describe how much joy it brings that I get to put on WooSesh. I am eternally thankful to all the amazing sponsors (and WPSessions members) who enable me to do this work.
How Much Does WooSesh Cost?
WooSesh is completely free. Yes, you read that correctly. It cost zero dollars to attend this event. You just need to register online at WooSesh.com.
The live sessions are free. If you want to watch the replays on WPSessions, you’ll need to pay for a WPSessions membership. Memberships start at $29 per month.
Why WooSesh is the Best Conference for WooCommerce
We’re big fans of WooSesh here at Mindsize. It’s something we encourage our entire team and clients to attend. Honestly, anyone who wants to learn more about WooCommerce should attend.
“I believe WooSesh is the most important WooCommerce conference of the year. It’s a must-attend event for me. You can always count on WooSesh to deliver high-quality sessions with excellent tips and knowledge.”
Patrick Garman – Mindsize CEO
WooSesh offers great value through its quality, cost, relevance, and format.
Quality
WooSesh brings together some of the top experts in WooCommerce. There’s a ton of great knowledge being shared in each session.
Cost
WooSesh fits into anyone’s budget. Attending a similar event with this caliber of speakers could cost hundreds of dollars per attendee. As a free event, WooSesh is more accessible to new developers and ecommerce businesses with limited resources.
Relevance
There’s something for everyone at WooSesh. You’ll take away useful tips and insights to improve your business or job. Yes, there are more developer-focused sessions, but you’ll also hear from marketing experts or get tips on handling sales tax.
Format
The Mindsize team is fully remote, so of course, we love virtual events. In-person conferences mean travel, hotels, and other expenses. It’s a big investment in both time and money. WooSesh brings the same quality of conference to your desk.
We also think WooSesh does a good job of creating an engaging virtual conference. This won’t seem like just another Zoom or Teams meeting. There’s a Slack channel for event Q&A. They’re intentional about creating time and ways for you to connect and meet other professionals. They even have virtual swag. You won’t get a T-shirt, but multiple companies in the WordPress space are providing freebies or discounts. How cool is that?
Must See Sessions
Details for some of the sessions are not yet available, but from our first look at the schedule, we can tell it’s going to be another great event. Here are our top picks for sessions to watch.
To be clear, we think all of the sessions will be amazing, but these sessions seem to be the most relevant to our clients and readers of this blog.
State of the Woo
11 a.m. Oct. 10
Speakers: WooCommerce executives, designers, engineers, and marketers
WooSesh starts strong with this opening session from the WooCommerce team. This session is worth your time to learn about improvements coming to WooCommerce. The speakers will give details on what’s already been released and what’s coming soon to improve the store and product editing experiences.
How Not to Woo a Hacker
1:30 p.m. Oct. 10
Speaker: Tim Nash, security consultant for Tempered Security
Security is a top concern of any store owner. WordPress security received a lot of attention earlier this year after a ground-breaking report showed how ineffective malware scanners are. Learning about multiple ways to protect your site is important. Remember, security requires a multi-layered approach, like we wrote about in this post on the Swiss Cheese Method.
Balancing Personalization and Privacy
noon Oct. 11
Speaker: Krupal Lakhia, project manager
Your customers care a lot about their privacy. But we also know that more personalized store experiences can lead to better conversion. That’s why we included personalization on our list of top trends in ecommerce. This session dives into how to balance the need to protect your customer’s privacy while offering top-notch personalization.
Decoding Next-Gen Commerce: Driving E-commerce Innovation through APIs

APIs are a game changer for building new ecommerce experiences. WooCommerce’s REST API is incredibly powerful. This session covers some of what’s possible when you put the API to use.
Accessibility Essentials for eCommerce
11 a.m. Oct. 12
Speaker: Bet Hannon, CEO of AccessiCart
Accessibility is important for ensuring all potential customers can use your site and have a great experience. It’s also a liability issue. More than three-fourths of Americans With Disabilities Act website lawsuits are about ecommerce stores. This non-technical session covers the basics of what store owners and developers need to know to ensure sites are compliant with the law and serve customers well. For a head start, we wrote about what developers needed to know about accessibility in our Using DevTools for Accessibility post.
Is My T-Shirt Taxable?
12:30 p.m. Oct. 12
Speaker: India Anderson, director of product management at Avalara, Inc.
No one likes paying taxes, but the consequences of not doing it are bad for your business and personal life. Sales tax is headache-inducing. Figuring out when and how much tax to charge as an ecommerce company is overwhelming. Check out this session for the basics on what is taxable, sales tax holidays, and state-by-state requirements.
Anderson works for Avalara, a leader in ecommerce tax solutions. If you’re not familiar with their product, we covered the basics in our What is Avalara? blog post.
The Benefits of Automating eCommerce Bookkeeping
1 p.m. Oct. 12
Speaker: Peter Leonard, founder of MyWorks
Bookkeeping is right up there with taxes in terms of tasks we enjoy. Fortunately, you can automate some of it. This session walks you through how to free yourself from the mundane part of accounting with automation. If you can’t wait for the session, be sure to read our blog post on How to Integrate WooCommerce with QuickBooks.
Amazon Pay Workshop
2 p.m. Oct. 12
Speaker: Debbie Martindale, senior solution architect at Amazon Pay
Details on this session were not final when we made this list, but we think it’s worth keeping an eye on. Amazon Pay allows customers to sign in and pay on your site with their Amazon account. We know that one-click checkout solutions improve conversion rates. Shopify stores have had a lot of success with Shop Pay. Amazon Pay could be a good option for WooCommerce stores.
Mindsize: The WooCommerce Experts
One of the reasons we love WooSesh so much and chose to sponsor it this year is because we’re huge WooCommerce fans ourselves. While we work on and support other ecommerce platforms, WooCommerce remains a core part of our business. We think it’s a great choice that offers tons of flexibility for building ecommerce experiences.
“I never hesitate to recommend WooCommerce for an ecommerce site build. The platform is capable, customizable, and reliable. If you’re also a fan of WooCommerce, make sure you sign up for WooSesh 2023.”
